Rasping Machine

PURPOSE: The Rasping machine is designed for the extraction of essential oil by rasping the outer surface of the whole citrus fruit. The fruits are rasped by couples of rotating rasping cylinders. The speed is adjustable, so that the fruits may remain on the cylinders for the time required for a complete rasping according to their variety and ripeness. The machine gives high production with the lowest use of labour. All this is automatic and without previous calibration of the fruits.

OPERATION: The citrus fruits arriving on the hopper are automatically taken away by a metering device, which lays in the machine. The citrus fruits are induced by special shovels along a passage formed by cylinders covered with sheet in stainless steel having rasping holes. The speed of those shovel can be adjusted and so, the time the citrus fruits are in the rasping-passage is that necessary to extract completely the essential oil, depending on the variety of fruits maturity and their condition. The speed of rasping cylinders is to be adjusted according to the hardness and the size of t he fruits. The water drawn in by centrifugal pump is sprayed into the oil section by means of nozzles. While the fruits are being rasped, the water washes the oil away and forms an oil emulsion. After the essential oil is extracted the citrus fruits are automatically passed into the Juice Extracting Machine.
